an odd question about paypal

i know that alot of people on this board use paypal, and i know it is used for merch. what i am wondering is, as someone new to ebay, what is the best way to get your money? i am a little unease about giving them my bank information although i think that makes sense to have it deposited. they charge fees for checks and most things besides a paypal card or bank transfer. i know this isnt very related but if anyone can offer advice, horror stories, or encouragement it would be very helpful to me. thanks
